DARTFORD ROAD RUNNERS

Club History and Information
The club was formed on the 1st April 1998 by a small group of road runners, most of whom had previously belonged to another local athletic club.

The club became affiliated to the Kent County and South Eastern Amateur Associations thereby bringing the benefits of affiliation to all members.
The home of Dartford Road Runners is Princes Park Stadium, Dartford where we meet every Tuesday and Thursday evening throughout the year.
At the stadium we enjoy excellent up to date sporting facilities and also the social amenities the stadium has to offer such as the lounge bar.

The club runs start at about 6.40pm. Runners are free to arrange and follow their own training schedule or to join the varied organised training sessions to achieve specific goals. The emphasis of the training changes thoughout the year to take account of seasonal changes in the targets set by individuals.

There is a handicap competition each month, which, runs throughout the year. The summer course is mainly off road, starting and finishing in Oakfield Park Dartford. The winter course uses well lit roads around the town. Trophies are awarded to the top three runners each month.

A grand prix series runs each year, consisting of twelve races, starting in January and finishing in December. Members wishing to take part are placed in one of five divisions where they compete against others of similar ability. Trophies are awarded to the top three runners in each division each year.

Dartford Road Runners' club race is the Les Witton Memorial 10 Mile Road Race (Dartford 10) which takes place each January. It's a race that regularly attracts a large field and gets great reviews, from the runners themselves and from Runners World.
DRR competes as a team against the other clubs in Kent and South East London in the Kent Fitness League winter cross country series, the summer Assembly League and the Kent Champs.
DRR also organises and runs a 5K race series in Joydens Wood each summer which is well supported by many clubs.

As well as competition DRR organises a number of social events throughout the year including a summer barbecue, Christmas dinner and dance and the annual week long training holiday at Club La Santa in Lanzarote.
